ABOUT US
Missions:
The mission of the Florida A&M University Gulf Scholars Program is to create a pipeline to inspire and prepare undergraduate students to address critical sustainability challenges facing the Gulf Region, through significant experiential learning opportunities and research engagement. With a focus on bringing about greater awareness by students, especially those from historically under- represented populations to the challenges in the Gulf Region states and the impact of significant natural and human events upon the environmental health, sustainability, and quality of life through science and research.
Goals:
Inspire interest and encourage engagement on relevant Gulf of Mexico Regional issues. Providing opportunities for students related to advancing the overall health, safety, sustainability, and resilience. Thus, ensuring a more just and equitable future for all in the Gulf Region
Supporting and enabling diverse and engaged Gulf Scholars in their academic, professional, community, and leadership development. Through significant experiential learning opportunities and research engagement, the GSP will provide students with the opportunity to serve as future change agents for the Gulf Region and beyond.
Making an impact within the Florida Panhandle community, and the larger Gulf of Mexico Region by working to advance the goals and missions of community partners dedicated to Gulf sustainability issues.

Partnership with FSU
The FAMU and FSU Gulf Scholars Programs work closely together due to their shared mission and goals. Several events are co-sponsored throughout the year and all events are open to scholars from either University.
